Hand-carved, printed linocuts on unbleached muslin, inspired by the 18th century “cabinet of curiosities” compiled by professional and amateur naturalists. A hand-printed and carved quote from Charles Darwin’s “Origin of the Species” is included, as follows: “From so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.”
The muslin is then hand-stitched into a fabric frame/tapestry backing, cut from premium fabric, with hanging tabs. A scavenged piece of Ohio River driftwood is included as a hanging rod.
Measures approximately 19 x 36″.
