Hand-carved, printed linocuts of Castor canadensis (North American Beaver) accompanied by assorted aquatic creatures and shantyboats–on unbleached muslin. The words “Castor canadensis” and “Frankly, my dear, you should give a dam,” are also printed and placed within the composition–alluding to the importance of beavers and their dams as keystone players within a multitude of endangered ecosystems. The muslin is then hand-stitched into a fabric frame/tapestry backing with hanging tabs. A scavenged piece of Ohio River driftwood is included for hanging.
Measures approximately 22 x 28″.
